"The greatest safety gain in road safety can be achieved in Africa. Many lives on the African roads must and can be saved. SAVE LIVE Africa will contribute to this objective"
Senegal, a first Ambassador
Following the signing of the Save Live agreement between Senegal and Luxembourg on the 31st of January 2018, Senegal acts as the official first Save Live Ambassador. The aim of Save Live is to build and implement a robust crash data collection system in West-African countries. Save Live supports Senegal in its efforts to reach the set objective of a 35% decrease of the number of victims of road accidents and improve post-crash response.
West African Road Safety Organisation (WARSO)
The Save Live Initiative is carried out under the umbrella of the West African Road Safety Organisation (WARSO) of which the road safety authority of Mali holds the Presidency, and the Federal Road safety Corps of Nigeria the Secretariat.
The Initiative was officially launched following the unanimous adoption of Resolution 2.11 by the WARSO Member States during the WARSO annual Assembly in Dakar the 23-26th of July 2018. The WARSO Secretariat will be supported in its day-to-day management by LuxMobility from Luxembourg (www.luxmobility.eu).
From data to knowledge
Working with modern road safety data collection and analyse systems allow to translate data into knowledge. Save Live includes a three year monitoring, training and assistance to ensure sustainability. A helpdesk will give support and provide road safety audits. This allows each African country to realise its road safety objectives.www.patrickvanegmond.lu
The first phase of this initiative is financially supported by the BPF Luxembourg. The implementation is coordinated by LuxMobility. For the workshops and training programs in the French speaking countries Save Live collaborates with the “Alliance Francophone pour la Sécurité Routière” (AFSR). The Senegal implementation is done in close cooperation with VIA from the Netherlands, provider of a software package for the data collection system. www.patrickvanegmond.lu
